NURSERY

TROPICA has aquired a 7 acre plot of land in The Redlands, south of Miami... It has been a long-term dream to create a preserve and oasis that would serve many purposes: we have been especially inspired by the large gardens of famous artists such as Monet, Burle Marx, Barragan, and Cesar Manrique. These refuges have served as creative laboratories, havens from everyday life, and meeting places for like-minded individuals.

This space in The Redlands, a region aptly named for its fertile soil, will eventually become a massive garden, showroom, office, living space, plant nursery, and meeting space as TROPICA continues to grow. Interior and exterior spaces - architecture and gardens - will coexist and blend directly into each other. It will also serve as a laboratory for experimentation with building and plant materials. Like when a painter who goes to a river, using local clay to make his paint colors, this site will be a space for experimentation with natural materials instrumental in our future creative work. Below the earth exists calcified oolitic rock, formed long ago when Florida was under an ocean. Stone in South Florida shows traces of coral, crustaceans, and other fossils from this time.

We will be offering a wide selection of Native Plants for the gardens of Miami....
